In this picture you see the old red brick building at College and Broad, (nearest the camera) which is in the same location as First Baptist Church in the early 1800s when some of the members began a Sunday school. Some of the Sunday school participants were involved in the beginning of Second Baptist.
(When the First Baptist congregation moved, the location was given to the African Baptist Church, which later rebuilt on the same land.) Higher up the hill, you can barely make out the next location of First Baptist between other buildings on the MCV campus.
