Mr. Winston, the retired Sheriff of the City of Richmond, died on February 7, 2007. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 63 years, Marian R. Winston. He is survived by two children, Crystal W. Metcalf and her husband, Tom, and by William Joseph Winston and his wife, Diana; four grandchildren, Andrew Metcalf and Robert Metcalf, Joanna W. Bergeron and Will Winston; six great-grandchildren; and his brother, Herbert Winston, of Miami FL.

"Andy" graduated from John Marshall High School, where he served as First Captain of the Cadet Corps. Later he proudly served his country in the U. S. Army during World War II. He served the citizens of Richmond as City Sergeant and then as the City of Richmond's first elected Sheriff.

The family will receive friends from 1-3 pm and 5-7 pm on Sunday, February 11, at the Central Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 3215 Cutshaw Avenue. Services will be conducted at Second Baptist Church, River Road at Gaskins Road, on Monday, February 12, at 11 am. Interment will be in Westhampton Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Ministry Home Care Hospice Service, 303 West Upham, Suite 200, Marshfield, WI 54449.
