He is survived by his wife of 27 years, rose Sadler Wilson; his children, Jeanne Wilson Gohn, Donna G. Wilbourne, Candy Hessler, Charlotte Finch, Howard Wilson, Paris Wilson, and Scott Wilson; and seven grandchildren; goddaughter Monica Dutta, and godson Ravi Dutta. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Staples Mill Chapel, 8510 Staples Mill Road, where the family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at Second Baptist Church, 9614 River Road. Interment at Westhampton Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Second Baptist Church Building Fund.
He served with the Navy in World War II.
Dr. Wilson earned a PhD in statistics from the University of Denver, a BA/MA in mathematics from Colorado State Univ. in Boulder, CO. He attended Colorado School of Mines, University of Minnesota, and MIT.
He worked for almost 50 years in management and computer fields with Boeing, Mobil iol, Allied Chemical, and Reynolds Metals, retiring from Reynolds Metals Company as director of information systems.
He began a second career as as assistant professor at Virginia Commonwealth University. After retiring from VCU, he continued to teach computer courses on a part-time basis. He served on boards, including Woodrow Wilson Rehabilitation Center, Fishersville VA. He was an avid bridge player and became a life master.
He was a member of Second Baptist Church.
