Mildred Pillow Poston

Mrs. Poston, of Richmond, formerly of Columbia SC, died Saturday, June 14. She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. C. Wilson C. Wilson Poston, and her daughter, Elizabeth Grace Poston. She is survived by her three children, the Honorable Charles Evans Poston and wife, Anita, of Norfolk, daughers, Martha Poston Turner and her husband Pat, of Manakin-Sabot VA, and Janet Poston Hardeman and husband, Keith, of Charleston SC; eight grandchildren, Grace, Rett, and Maribeth Turner, Geoffrey and Emily Hardeman, Evans John and Meg Poston; sister, Nona Pillow Parham of Hampton VA, and brother, Kenneth B. Pillow, of Tempe AZ.

Mildred was a graduate of Phenix High School in Charlotte Co. VA. She obtained her teaching certificate from the Univ. of South Carolina, and her Master's from the Univ. of South Carolina. She was the former principal of Keysville Elementary School. Most of her teaching career was spent in Richland County Schools in Columbia SC. Mrs. Poston was a member of Second Baptist Church in Richmond.

The family will receive friends Monday from 6-8 pm at the West Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home,11020 W. Broad St., Glen Allen VA 23060. A cryptside service will be held 2 pm Wednesday, June 18, in Bush River Memorial Gardens in Columbia SC. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Lakewood Manor Baptist Retirement CommunityBenevolence Fund, 1900 Lauderdale Drive, Richmond VA 23238. The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Lakewood Manor for the special care given to her over the past eight years.
