Frances Gibbs Phillips, 92, a resident of Cedarfield and widow of Ralph Dixon Phillips, died Friday April 21, 2006. Surviving are a daughter, Margaret Ann Phillips, of Oakland, CA; a son, James Dixon Phillips, of Richmond; three sisters, Mary Windham, of Clarksville, TN, Grace Gibbs Adkisson, of Knoxville, TN, Sally Wherry, of Glenview, IL; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by seven brothers and two sisters.

A phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of Tennessee, Mrs. Phillips retired as a teacher from the Collegiate Schools.

She was a long-time member of Second Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends on Monday from 6-8 p.m. at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 Parham Road. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Chapel at Second Baptist Church, 9614 River Road. Interment private. A reception will be held at the church immediately following the service.
