Ernest William Parrott

Ernest William Parrott, 82, of Richmond, passed away November 11, 2007. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest Wrenn and Julia O'Brian Parrott; and by his first and second wives, Hilda Parrott and Frances P. Parrott; and by six brothers and four sisters. He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Daphne Burnette Parrott; one son, Ernest William "Bill" Parrott, Jr. of Leesburg, NC; stepdaughter Elaine W. Peele and her husband, J. H. "Sandy" Peele, Jr. of Richmond; two grandchildren, Todd Peele of Richmond and Ashley Peele of Greensboro NC; also numerous nieces and nephews.

Ernie served in the U.S. Navy during WWII aboard the U.S.S. L.S.M. 204 on the Atlantic coast and the Asiatic-Pacific area of operations, including Pearl Harbor, Guam, Leyte and Subic Bays in the Philippine Islands and Okinawa, received the American Defense Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, Philippine Liberation Ribbon, Victory Medal. He was a past deacon with Second Baptist Church and served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher at Woodland Baptist Church in Wake Forest, NC. He retired from management positions in the textile industry.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, November 13, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in the Parham Chapel of Woody Funeral Home, 1771 N. Parham Road. A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Second Baptist Church. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, 3 p.m. in Pine Forest Memorial Gardens, Wake Forest, NC.
