He is survived by his wife; by two children: Lisa Johnson Dinwiddie and Ashley Johnson Ownby; by five grandchildren; by a brother, Dr. James E. Johnson, Jr.; bya sister, Jeanette Davis.
A memorial services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, September 17, at Second Baptist Church.
He served in a private neurosurgical practice from 1966 - 1999. He was Chief of Neurosurgery at Chippenham Hospital from 1985 - 1996, and Chief of Neurosurgery at Johnston-Willis Hospital from 1990 - 1994.
Dr. Johnson was a member of the Country Club of Virginia, Second Baptist Church, and the American Association of Neurosurgical Surgeons, the Richmond Academy of Medicine, the American Medical Association, the Medical Society of Virginia, and was president of the Neurosurgical Society of the Virginias from 1994-1996.
He served his country in the Air Force during the Korean War.
