He is survived by his wife, Etta T. Bargatze ; two sons: James R. Bargatze and Ronald H. Bargatze, and his wife, Margaret; a grandson, Howard Hampton Bargatze; a granddaughter, Margaret Anne Bargatze; and his stepmother, Catherine Bargatze.

Mr. Bargatze served in the U. S. Army Air Force in World War II, was formerly president of General Medical Corporation, a member of Second Baptist Church and of the Country Club of Virginia.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, November 28, 2001, at Westhampton Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.

The Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, is assisting the family with arrangements.
