Ms. Apperson died at a local hospital. She was born in Whitesville, KY, the daughter of the late B. J. and Carrie McCarty Bristow. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles T. Apperson. She is survived by her daughter, Pamela J. Apperson

She was a charter member of Broadus Memorial Baptist Church in Charlottesville and a member of Second Baptist Church in Richmond. Ms. Apperson was a retired claims representative with the Social Security Administration.

A graveside service will be conducted 11 a.m., Monday, June 10, 2002, at Monticello Memory Gardens, Charlottesville, with Rev. Robert Wheeler officiating. The family will receive friends from 4-5 p.m. Sunday, June 9, 2002, at TEague Funeral Home, 2260 Ivy Road, Charlottesville.
