CARITAS
“Congregations Around Richmond Involved To Assure Shelter”
CARITAS is an emergency shelter program for homeless adults and families in the region in search of income, affordable housing, and hope during a devastating personal crisis. This organization enables member congregations to provide shelter and hospitality to homeless people in the Richmond area. Do you have an interest in reaching out to those who need a place to “lay their head”? CARITAS Volunteers are always needed. Click here for more information, or Contact Jamie Mitchell.
CLOTHES CLOSET
Donate your seasonal clothes to our clothes closet. We are looking for adult as well as children’s clothing that is distributed to various groups we reach out to. Drop off your donations at the front Welcome Center. Contact Laverne Breeden or Anna Clark.
ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE
This team concentrates on teaching conversational English so that students may function better on the telephone, in the work place, and on a face to face basis with people they encounter. With each person there is an opportunity to minister to their needs and express that we care about them because of Christ’s love. Often lives are changed and enduring friendships are built. Click here for more information.
FOOD PANTRY
The Food Pantry enables our congregation to address hunger issues in our community by the on-going collection of food items, which are then available for needy persons who come by the church or for distribution through the ministries of the Richmond Baptist mission centers. Bring your food donations to the church and leave them at the front Welcome Center. Contact Carol Alley.
PANNS Ministry
This food ministry organizes group cooking sessions to prepare and freeze nutritional meals. PANNS participants prepare meals in order to stock the Second Baptist Casserole Ministry. The Casserole Ministry is an outreach available to Second Baptist Families and the extended community for anyone needing support during health or personal hardship. Team Facilitator: Kathy Spotts
PRAYER SHAWL MINISTRY
This team knits and crochets for various projects and ministries inside and outside the church. This group meets together to pray and knit for those who are homeless, undergoing surgery, welcoming a new baby, homebound, and more. If you enjoy knitting or crocheting, then join us. Contact Robinette George.
