Troop Co-Leaders: Thelma Ambrose and Cheri Peterson
Cadet Girl Scout Troop #21 is looking forward to another exciting year of Girls Sharing and Fun!
We recently had a camping trip and the pictures on this page are from that event.
Cadet Girl Scouting is an exciting and challenging adventure!
In our first year as Cadets, Troop #21 is very excited to explore our possibilities and fuel our passions! Many interests will be cultivated this year, such as camping, hiking, cooking, community service and assisting younger Scout troops.
Our first camping trip this year at Westview on the James was beautiful and a bit chilly (there was frost on the tent in the morning!) We enjoyed great outdoor cooking and inspiring campfire services. Oh - don’t forget the great skits showing off each scouts’ fine theatrical talents! We are planning several additional camping excursions this year as well as hiking some parts of the Appalachian Trail.
As in the past, Troop #21 will host the Father-Daughter Dance for the Gayton Service Unit in March. We also look forward to continuing our competitive spirit at the Virginia Food Bank as we compete with other organizations to “pack the most food” in our time slot!
In February, we will be attending a professional cooking school in order to complete portions of our Special Interest Patch. These culinary talents will be used as we prepare a CARITAS meal in December. We are anxious to be working with the Oregon Hill Center and assisting in packing food boxes and offering our assistance to that community. We look forward to working with both these worthwhile projects, and growing in our sense of community involvement. We will also continue to enjoy assisting younger scouts in perfecting camping and hiking skills.
Yes, it plans to be a busy and productive year. As Cadet Scouts, we are looking forward to new adventures and new goals every day!
Thank you for your continued support of our Troop and its many activities. Sharing in the facilities at Second Baptist Church and its membership is always a fun filled event!
