The commitment of parents to partner with God and with the church in raising their children in a Christian home is a time for celebration. Our Family Dedication Service is an opportunity for parents to publicly promise to seek God’s will for their children and to instruct them in the ways of the Lord, to teach them His Word, and to talk with them about faith in Jesus as Savior when they reach an age of spiritual understanding. Family Dedication is not only a spiritual dedication of the family to grow the child within the ways of the Lord; it is also a commitment of the Family of Faith at Second Baptist to become lifelong partners with each family dedicated. We commit to provide prayer support, assistance in Bible teaching and opportunities, facilities and people through which children can enter into a fullness of Christian faith.
Family Dedications are held in February, May and November. Prior to the Dedication Service parents are required to attend a Dedication Class. The class provides an opportunity for parents to understand what will occur at the service and how the church will partner with each family as they grow spiritually.
