Most churches in Virginia hold title to real estate in the names of Trustees who are elected by the Congregation to that position. The appointment is usually considered to be for life. In the earlier years of our congregation, we had a larger group of Trustees than is now the case.
The Trustees also hold and manage the endowment funds at Second Baptist. Any transfer of property to or from Second Baptist is done in the names of the Trustees. In Virginia, any encumbering of title or any out conveyance must be approved by court order at the request of the congregation.
